EXPLORE YOUR BIRTH TIME
Working with Kündig
Start with your recorded birth time. Sections give possible times. The solar key is then used to explore them through life events.
- Find sections. Choose an interval that reflects your uncertainty about the birth time.
- Choose times. View them in the wheel and start with two or three for comparison.
- Compare with your life. Add dated events, such as moving home, marriage or graduation.
What do these terms mean?
- Section
- A time calculated by the method as a possibility.
- Candidate
- A time you have chosen to explore further. Your original time is always included.
- Solar key
- Your personal annual movement of the progressed angles, used when comparing life events.
- AC and MC
- The ascendant and midheaven: two chart angles that change when you adjust the birth time.
- Aspect and orb
- An aspect is an angle between chart points. The orb is its distance from the exact angle. A small orb does not prove that a birth time is correct.
Adjust the time manually Optional
±3 hours of elapsed time. The wheel and tabs follow the candidate. The original is preserved. Save in My charts to keep candidates and events. Changes are saved only when you press Save.
Kündig & Bonatti 1. Find possible times
Find sections around your recorded birth time. See which come from Kündig, Bonatti or both. View them in the wheel and keep them as candidates for your life events.
Compare the times you have kept using the Kündig solar key. You can also choose the ARGUS variant under life events. Remember to save your work in My charts.
About the section methods
Kündig: ten equal divisions between the meridian conjunctions of the MC/IC rulers. Traditional rulers: Mars for Scorpio, Saturn for Aquarius and Jupiter for Pisces. Bonatti: a planet is on the AC, DC, MC or IC. This version uses the Sun through Pluto and ecliptic longitudes; the node, Chiron and dwarf planets are excluded from the Bonatti search. These are chart conjunctions with angles, rather than physical rising or culmination including planetary latitude.
Planet positions are recalculated at each section. Times are rounded to whole seconds. Sections rounding to the same second are combined in one card with both labels. The nearest three are marked by time distance within the selected list, not by probability.
Explore candidates using transits or progressions with the Kündig solar key under Candidates & events. Save in My charts to keep candidates and labels. They do not establish your actual birth time.

The five major aspects, ordered by precision. The orb is the distance from the exact aspect.
| Planets | Aspect | Orb |

Orbs: 8° conjunction/opposition, 6° square/trine, 4° sextile. North node, Chiron and dwarf planets: maximum 3°. Aspects to AC/MC are not included.
Enable “Show transits” to compare the sky on a chosen date with your birth chart.

Orb: maximum 3°; 2° when the north node, Chiron or a dwarf planet is involved. The five major aspects to natal planets and the north node. Click a connection to see it in the wheel. Motion describes the instant; an exact passage is not guaranteed. AC/MC and transit houses are not included.
2. Your chosen times
The original is included as a starting point. Start with two or three sections to compare with it. You can have up to five times in total.
3. Compare with life events
Start with an event whose date you know. Add more from different periods of your life to examine the same candidates across dates.
Up to five events. Descriptions stay in your browser; only dates and birth details are sent for calculation. Use short labels, such as Moving home. Save your work in My charts.
How to read the results
Each column is a possible birth time. Each row is an event. Look at how the same times compare across several events. You assess the astrological connections yourself. If the interval contains more sections, you can change candidates and compare again.
The orb shows the distance from an exact aspect, not a probability. “No aspects” means none was found within the chosen limit in this sample. The event may still be relevant. Each date is sampled at 12:00 UTC.

Orbs: 8° conjunction/opposition, 6° square/trine, 4° sextile. Maximum 3° for AC, MC, the north node, Chiron and dwarf planets. House placements use ecliptic longitude. There is no automatic assessment of the relationship.

Calculation details and precision +
Before 1970, local time zone history needs separate checking. The atlas describes present-day places and time zones. Historical border changes may need manual correction. Placidus is limited here to latitudes between 66° south and 66° north. Equal House and Regiomontanus support higher latitudes; the geographic poles (±90°) are excluded.
